About Us
Tradition

Founded in 1954 in San Rafael California by expert piano technicians Leonard Jared and Stephen Binion, The J-B Piano Company is the oldest piano restoration shop on the West Coast. Glenn Woodruff started working with Leonard and Stephen in 1976. He became a partner four years later and in 1986, the owner. Glenn taught his two sons the craft and Cameron Woodruff is now part owner. Jenna Woodruff, Cameron’s sister, may be the friendly voice you converse with when you schedule an appointment or tuning.
Expert Piano Technicians
Our restoration department has always been integral to our business and has been what sets us apart from many other Piano showrooms, because we are technicians and enthusiasts that truly know pianos and can provide services on a level that many other piano showrooms cannot. We are excited about the collection of pianos we have which encompasses the world class and higher end and ranges to the very affordable. Every piano we have to offer we feel is special and we care about matching our clients with the right one, whether they are a seasoned artist or a family just starting out on that journey with their child. All of our pianos come with our warranty.
Community
Being an active and supportive part of the music community in Marin is important to us. Many local piano teachers hold their student recitals here, we have a practice studio, recording studio, and we regularly host concerts. We look forward to meeting you and showing you around!
The J-B Staff

Glenn Woodruff
I am Glenn Woodruff, the second owner since our founding in 1954. My background is that of a tuner who began an apprenticeship tuning pianos during high school, but it was when I began working with Jared & Binion that my horizons as a piano technician, rebuilder and enthusiast really expanded.
Our clients are some of the most accomplished, discerning and world famous pianists, and the instruments which have come through our workshop are some of the finest pianos ever built. We have successfully restored and serviced many wonderful (and sometimes very challenging) historical pianos for individual artists, colleges and studios.

Cameron Woodruff
Growing up surrounded by pianos, Cameron’s interest in their inner workings was sparked at an early age. After apprenticing with master piano technicians and fine woodworkers, and now with 20+ years in the business, Cameron is a highly skilled, expert piano technician performing at concert-level tech standards and is a seasoned rebuilder. He’s the shop foreman, running our day-to-day operations, rebuilding pianos, and going on tuning calls for concerts and recording sessions. Beyond pianos, Cameron’s musical pursuits are many—he’s a classical guitarist, talented songwriter, and an accomplished recording artist alongside his band.

Mark Robertson
Mark Robertson has been with The J-B Piano Company since 1990 and he is a concert pianist, producer, studio musician, composer and piano consultant/technician. He is the CFO of our company, but his knowledge and experience with piano regulation and restoration keeps him involved in the shop as well as day to day customer relations and logistics.

Ramon Garza
Ramon Garza has been the Master Refinisher since 1992. Along with his wife Clara Garza, they are a vital part of our team at The J-B Piano Company. Ramon’s work is unsurpassed, owing to his perfectionism, artistry and his sheer amount of experience. The finished products coming from Ramon’s department are consistent and done with great dedication and passion. In the case of his refinishing work, seeing is believing and every piano turns out beautiful and remains that way for years.

Clara Garza
Clara Garza is an absolute inspiration in her work ethic, attention to detail and in the consistency of her work in the refinishing department. She has been with us almost as long as Ramon, to whom she is married. Together they have been an intergral part of The JB Piano Company’s restoration and refinishing operation.
Apprenticeships
